Inspired by the song "33 God" by Bon Iver.
Two lines in particular stayed with me: "I've been looking through your mind," and "Said I woulda walked across any thousand lands, no not really if you can't."
For me the song is a story about true intentions in a relationship as it is coming to an end. The words don't need to be said, because you can see it in their eyes, and that is what I wanted to paint. The internal struggle Bon Iver shows in those lines is the inner conflict the whole song is about: the retreat. Saying you would walk across any thousand lands for someone, then immediately pulling it back.
I see a lot of myself in that. Caring about someone deeply, but protecting yourself by pretending you don't.
